This weekend (2/20/15)

Hope everyone is wearing thick socks!  It's crazy cold out there.  Between the President's Day holiday and two snow days, the boys have only been in school two days this week!  And now I'm hearing rumblings that they might be off Monday as well.  I am fairly certain that they have not gone one full week since coming back from winter break in early January.  Insanity.

But this weekend we will forget the 8 feet of snow outside and enjoy ourselves anyway!  Here is the schedule of fun-ness:

Friday, February 20 - Brendan soccer, 6:00 pm at the Dome

Saturday, February 21 - Nathan's last hockey game of the season!  And it's a home game!  3:40 p.m. at Center Ice.

Brendan is going camping this weekend, and Mike is preparing for a trial, so it's pretty much the usual level of kookiness and disorganization for us.

This weekend (2/6/15)

Oh, boy!  So, this morning I was chatting with Brendan before I left for work.  He is getting ready to sign up for HIGH SCHOOL CLASSES.  I'll just pause a minute and let that sink in.  Go ahead, commence freaking out.  I have been for about six months now.  Anyway, I made the grand pronouncement that we have, like, nothing going on this weekend!  So we can sit down and figure out his schedule!  No problem!

Except that as I started listing off the "only" things we have going on this weekend, I realized it's not quite as boring as I thought it would be.

Friday:  Nate - Hockey practice 5:50 pm at Center Ice.  Brendan - Soccer game - 8:00 pm at the Dome.  Lucky for us they're only about a mile apart.

Saturday:  Nothing?  I sort of hesitate to even say that, because I'm sure I'm forgetting something.  So, the usual exciting circuit of grocery store, Sam's, various and assorted chores, laundry, etc.

Sunday:  Mike and Brendan - 7:00 am Scout Sunday at the church.  They'll be serving up fluffy, delicious pancakes as part of a service project that the Troop/Pack host every year to thank the church for allowing us to have the run of the place.  9:00 am - Nathan MIGHT have a hockey game at center ice.  The white team is playing, and more often than not, they ask him to play with them, but we never know until the last minute.  They're hockey guys, not planners.  So, check with me before you head to the rink?  12:00 pm - Happy Birthday to Robb!  And hopefully getting my hands on some cute babies.

Winter II soccer schedule

It feels like the season is already half-over, but our first game isn't until tomorrow night!  Sorry, better late than never.

Friday, February 6 - 8:00 pm vs Wizard Hogs

Friday, February 13 - 6:00 pm vs NCYS

Friday, February 20 - 6:00 pm vs Canton United Blue (this should be entertaining.  Since they play for the same club, they generally just smoosh the teams together, divide them into two teams, and have a fun time trying to kick each others' butts.)

Friday, March 6 - 7:00 pm vs Coventry

Friday, March 13 - 7:00 pm vs Lake

Sunday, March 15 - 2:00 pm vs Eagle Select

Sunday, March 22 - 2:00 pm vs Wizard Hogs

Friday, March 27 - 8:00 pm vs Strikers

Sunday, March 29 - 2:00 pm vs Strikers

That's it!  Then we'll have the joy of going back to Lodi for fun and exciting games knee deep in mud and ice.  Since the season starts in April-ish, they'll probably release the schedule in May.

Amended 2015 hockey schedule

Natey's season is drawing to a close, so if you want to come see him in action, do it soon!

Sunday, February 8 - 9:00 am - MAYBE a White team game at Center Ice

Saturday, February 14 - 4:30 pm at Parma - 5000 Forestwood Dr, Cleveland OH 44134.  He is SO excited, because he's been promised a trip out for pierogies afterward.  What could be more romantic on valentine's day than hockey and pierogies?

Sunday, February 15 - 2:00 pm at Euclid - 22250 Milton Ave, Cleveland OH 44123

Saturday, February 21 - 3:40 pm AT HOME!  Center ice.  Be there, or be square.

I think that's it.  Crazy.  I think the current plan is for him to play lacrosse in the spring (note to self:  sign Nathan up for lacrosse.) and play drop-in games with the house league at center ice as his schedule allows.  He loves hockey, so the odds of him going six whole months without playing until next season starts are basically nil.

In other news, it's apparently a Big Deal to be assigned a nickname by the coach.  Until now, Nathan has been known as Mr. Bickis.  A couple of weeks ago, he was officially christened "Swerves" by his coach.  He chose that one because Nate doesn't really know how to stop; he just makes these surgically tight turns right before an obstacle and skates off in a different direction (and until now, thought that his coaches weren't paying attention).  So, Swerves.  But he came home from practice this week and told me that he finally learned how to stop!  I asked him if his new nickname was going to be "Stops." :)
