Pinewood Derby pictures (much belated)!

It was a great day!  The itty bitties ruled the whole Pack.  Nate's den won two out of the top four slots for the whole pack, and nearly all of the Tiger Cubs made it into the semi-finals!  That's the power of competitive parents :)

Nate's car, second from the left, was called Akela's Pride.  It's not the best picture ever, but it looks just like a little cub scout, and is wearing an orange kerchief, just like a Tiger would be.  I thought it was a little unfair that the poor guy had to go down head-first, but I was overruled.

Mike, making sure everything was juuuuuuuust right:

This year there were a LOT of Lego guys driving the cars.

Nate's car, pulling away on the straightaway:

He came in third place in his age group, which was enough to earn him a speed trophy.  As you can tell, they weren't all that excited:

He also got a participation medal (already planning to put it in his shadow box some day!) and won a special design award for a scout-themed design, known as the Scout's Pride Award.  Trophy number two and an untucked shirt:

Somewhere there's a picture of him holding both, but for the life of me I can't seem to put my hands on it.

The whole, motley crew:

Nate and his little friend:

They are the sweetest little things.  I can't believe that in a couple of short years they're going to be tall, lanky, and mouthy little monsters who won't let their mothers kiss them in public.
